Flizani - the art of Greek coffee cup readings

  • Highett Neighbourhood Community House 2 Livingston Street Highett, VIC, 3190 Australia (map)

This two-hour immersive workshop invites you into a cherished Greek cultural tradition — the art of reading the coffee cup, or Flizani.

Rooted in ritual, symbolism, and shared storytelling, this experience is designed to be light-hearted, engaging, and deeply human. It’s not about prediction or performance — it’s about learning how meaning emerges through symbols, conversation, and connection.

What You’ll Experience

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn:

  • How to prepare traditional Greek coffee for cup reading

  • The correct way to turn, rest, and open the cup

  • How to recognise common symbols and patterns

  • How to form a simple, intuitive mini reading

  • How to read with curiosity, respect, and cultural context

No experience required. Curiosity welcomed.

The Atmosphere… This is a relaxed, social, and culturally rich experience, designed to be enjoyed slowly — just like the coffee itself.

A small plate of traditional Greek treats will be shared as part of the morning, honouring the communal nature of this practice.

  • Lovers of culture, ritual, and storytelling

  • Intuitive explorers who want a grounded, enjoyable experience
