What happens to pets in heaven?

Hello treasured friends,

If you follow me on social media then you would know that late June I lost my beloved companion dog Buddy. Buddy was just shy of 12 years old and throughout his entire life he has greeted, comforted and helped heal every single client I have worked with. Many of you will have fond memories of his loving and giving nature greeting you at my front door.

For those of us that have had the privilege of receiving unconditional love from your pets, the grief of losing them can be just as impactful and sometimes even more so that the grief of losing our own family members.

Many of us grieve more deeply than losing our human family members and this can cause us to feel guilty. I wondered why this is the case and I feel it comes down to two reasons:

The first being that we are so enmeshed into the daily routines of our pets and their care that we feel their absence deeply through daily reminders. The second reason is that because we do not have the barrier of language, (we actually link to our pets through soul to soul communication that transcends language), our connection to them is a pure soul felt connection.

What I have learnt from my own experience is that animals also go through a healing process as they transition into the spirit world. The physical memories of their pain is stripped away and then they too go through a life review.

Their spirit can reach out to let their owners know they are ok. On the day Buddy passed he visited our acupuncturist who contacted me to let me know that he had connected to Buddy and that Buddy was ok even before I had publicly shared the news of Buddy's passing.

They also can give us signs they are around. Each day until his ashes were returned, I received a daily sign from Buddy in the form of his name, a rainbow or 444 which is the time he passed (4:44am).

So, can a medium connect to my pet?

The short answer is absolutely yes! Our animals in spirit, do not speak using words but they do show the medium memories, experiences, favourite toys and they impress upon the medium their thoughts and physical conditions that they may have experienced.

Although I am not exclusively a pet medium, I have had the honour of being able to connect many grieving pet parents to their fur babies and it is now not lost on me how helpful this can be for us to process our grief and sometimes our guilt.

So what does happen to our pets in heaven?

They all cross a rainbow bridge that puts them into this beautiful green field where they are free from pain and suffering where they are in eternal peace and happiness until they are reunited with their human companions.

The image of the green field has been common to all connections I have made to dogs in spirit. I believe our dogs have a special place in heaven where they are free to play and roam in this huge green field with their favourite toys.

I know Buddy too is now in that green field; on the day he was cremated I saw him in a vision running with a huge smile on his face and his tail wagging joyfully. His ailments were gone and he was healthy and happy.

Until next time,

Brightest blessings,
