One of the most common questions I get — especially during readings — is this:

“How can I protect my energy?”

It’s a heartfelt and valid concern. Many of my clients (and students) are sensitive, empathic, and open-hearted — and often don’t realise just how much energy they’re unconsciously absorbing from the people, places, and situations around them.

Here’s the truth: energetic protection doesn’t have to be complicated or fear-based. It’s not about building walls or shutting yourself off. It’s about awareness, clarity, and boundaries. Protection is proactive, not reactive — and it begins with simple, daily rituals that remind you: your energy is sacred.

Let’s explore what energetic protection looks like in a grounded, everyday way.

5 Practical Ways to Protect Your Energy (Without the Woo)

1. Cleanse With Intention (Shower Ritual)
Water is a powerful conductor — and one of the easiest ways to reset your energy field is while showering. As the water flows over you, say aloud or silently:

“What is mine is mine to keep. What is not mine, wash away.”

This simple declaration creates a boundary between what you’re meant to carry… and what you’re not. Use it daily, especially after emotionally intense days.

2. Visualise a Protective Field (Before or After Readings)
Before you enter a session, public space, or crowded event, visualise a soft, golden light around your body. This isn’t a shield — it’s a filter. It allows love and Spirit through, but gently deflects unwanted noise, emotion, or attachment.

3. Anchor Into the Body (Grounding Practice)
Protection begins with presence. Stand barefoot on the earth, or simply place both feet flat on the ground. Breathe slowly and deeply. With every exhale, imagine any external energy draining down through your feet and returning to the earth.

4. Close Down Your Energy Field
After a reading or spiritual session, thank Spirit, then gently close your energetic awareness. This might look like zipping up your aura, blowing out an inner candle, or simply affirming: “My session is now complete. My energy is my own.”

5. Nourish Your Nervous System
Spiritual work impacts the body. Protecting your energy includes tending to your physical and emotional needs. Rest, hydration, good food, solitude — these aren’t luxuries. They’re maintenance for a sensitive system.
