What If I Get It Wrong?” — A Medium’s Most Honest Fear

Treasured friends,

Let’s talk about one of the most uncomfortable truths in mediumship development — the fear of being wrong.

You’ve probably felt it: that surge of hesitation right before you speak a name, share a memory, or deliver a message from Spirit. The voice in your head whispers, “What if I say the wrong thing?”

Here’s what I want you to know:

That fear doesn’t make you a bad medium. It makes you an ethical one.

The desire to serve Spirit with accuracy, compassion, and truth is a beautiful thing. But when that desire becomes fear, it can paralyse your development and silence your voice.

In the Ignition School, I teach my students how to navigate this fear with grounded tools — because fear isn’t something we eliminate. It’s something we understand and outgrow.

5 Ways to Work Through the Fear of Getting It Wrong

1. Reframe ‘Wrong’ as Information, Not Failure
A “no” isn’t the end of your connection — it’s an invitation to explore. Sometimes the evidence needs context, or Spirit’s message is symbolic. Ask: “May I go back and explore this a little more?”

2. Remember: You’re the Messenger, Not the Source
You are the translator, not the author. Let go of the need to get it perfect. Instead, focus on clarity, neutrality, and trust. Deliver what you receive — without distortion or apology.

3. Anchor in Evidence
When you feel unsure, lean on facts. A good medium offers specifics: names, descriptions, hobbies, anniversaries. Let the evidence do the talking — it builds your confidence and the sitter’s trust.

4. Practice with Feedback Loops
In Ignition, we create safe spaces for real-time feedback. Practicing in circles with guided support helps you build resilience. The more you hear what did land, the more you’ll realise how often you’re actually right.

5. Embrace Vulnerability as Part of Your Strength
Spirit doesn’t expect perfection. They expect presence. When you speak from the heart and with integrity, even a message that doesn’t land perfectly can offer healing, reflection, or comfort.

I’ve gotten it wrong. Every medium you admire has, too. The difference is that they kept going.

This work isn’t about flawless messages — it’s about being willing to show up for Spirit, sit in the discomfort, and trust that something meaningful will emerge.

So the next time you feel that fear… breathe.
Feel your feet on the floor.
And let Spirit speak.

You're more ready than you realise.
