Why Can’t I Connect Consistently? Struggling to Connect with Spirit Every Time? Here’s Why (and What to Do)
Treasured friends,
Have you ever had a beautiful, clear connection with Spirit one day… and then the next time, it feels like radio silence?
This is one of the most common frustrations among developing mediums — and it’s often the very thing that makes them question whether they’re “cut out” for this work.
Let me reassure you: inconsistency does not mean incapability. It simply means there’s something in the Medium-Spirit-Sitter triangle that needs adjustment. Think of it like tuning a radio — sometimes, we just need to fine-tune the dial.
In my in person workshops or in the Emerging and Evidential Medium levels of my online Ignition Mediumship School, I work with students to understand their own energy, mindset, and technique so they can create consistent conditions for connection.
Here's 5 practical ways I show you how you can start doing that for yourself:
5 Practical Ways to Build Consistency in Your Mediumship
1. Create a Pre-Connection Routine
Spirit blends best with you when you’re in a calm, neutral, and focused state. Create a pre-reading routine that grounds you, clears your mind, and raises your vibration. It might include:
Breathwork
A short Intention prayer to your Spirit team
A short meditation connecting your soul to spirit
This trains your nervous system to shift into "Spirit Mode".
2. Keep an Energy Diary
Track your sleep, food, emotions, moon cycles, and spiritual practices. You’ll start to notice patterns — perhaps your connections are weaker when you’re overtired, or stronger after you’ve spent time in nature. Awareness = power.
3. Practice Sitting In The Power (Without Pressure)
Not every sitting must produce a message. In Ignition, we encourage sitting in the power — just being actively present with Spirit. Like meditation, it develops your spiritual stamina and helps you connect without expectation or performance anxiety.
4. Work with Different Partners
If you’re only practicing with close friends or familiar faces, you may unconsciously rely on what you already know. Working with new partners helps you fine-tune your clairs and strengthens your ability to read “cold,” without prior context. Join my ignition facebook community and practice with like minded individuals.
5. Honour Rest and Reset
Sometimes inconsistency is Spirit’s way of telling you: slow down. Integration is part of the journey. Taking time off to reflect, learn, or simply be can renew your connection and deepen your practice. Trust the pauses.
No medium — not even professionals — connects perfectly every time. The key is to approach your development with compassion, curiosity, and structure.
Consistency comes from preparation, presence, and patience — not from force.
And remember: Spirit always shows up. Sometimes, they’re just teaching you how to listen differently.
Brightest Blessings,
Ioanna xx
